   ~ Back payments from statutory bodies

» Social Policy continues to be an effective influence in changing practices and law to the benefit of all of us. Issues include:-
  ~ Mortgage repossessions
  ~ Benefits & Tax Credits (protection of tenants)
  ~ Schools out (hidden costs of schooling)

» Help is not always measurable:-

Les (volunteer CAB advisor) has helped many clients who have faced the possibility of losing their home and has no doubt that clients benefit by talking to an impartial stranger who listens to their concerns and will give independent help and advice. "It‘s knowing the process, understanding the issue, and how to deal with it. For some people it takes a lot of courage to admit that they are in trouble, and visit the Bureau. It‘s extremely rewarding to know that you have helped."

A 2005 national poll showed that: -
  ~ 33% felt less anxious or stressed after using the Bureau
  ~ 14% had fewer health problems or felt less depressed
  ~ 41% of the adult population will use the CAB during their lifetime
  ~ Only 32% of people realise that each Bureau is an independent charity
